Adrian checked out a couple of new cymbal lines from Meinl and discovered some great value sounds. He played a combination of the M-Series and the Soundcaster Custom and Fusion series cymbals. Check out what Adrian thought after having a good play on this often overlooked brand…
Meinl M-Series
Outstanding clear and bright stick sound with a fat chick, due to the heavy weight bottom. Strong and powerful response with a controlled feeling.
Exceptionally heavy bottom cymbal for a fa st stick response and a more defined, fat chick sound.
Rich sounds characteristic of B20 bronze alloy. Speaks very quickly with beautiful warm undertones, and shimmers with brilliance and musicality.
Clear, crisp stick definition with a shimmering spread. Rich sound with a good degree of color and plenty of warmer undertones. Nice shaped bell that projects loud and clear.

Soundcaster Series
Combination of warmth and clear, bright overtones, due to the polished finish.
Clear and warm sound. Very musical splash.
Combination of trashiness and brilliance. The close lathing at the edge effects an enhanced washy sound.
If you’re in the Melbourne area, head down to Prahran and have a play on this new cymbal range from Meinl that Adrian was using throughout the review.
